This is beyond heartbreaking. A 16-year-old Afghan boy who came over to Britain on a small boat, seeking sanctuary here, was put in a hotel for adults; when he told a social worker that he was 16, she didn't believe him. He very upset, and was then run over on the M1. RIP Amir 💔

Unspeakable cruelty from the UK government.

On 1 February, East Sussex County Council and National Literacy Trust are hosting Ramzee - author/illustrator of the awesome and hilarious 'The Cheat Book', about a young refugee who struggles to fit in until he finds a mysterious book in the library. It is free to attend, do come along!

Not enough refugees are permitted safe access so traffickers & exploiters target them. Instead of fixing that government are maintaining the ban on people who’ve been criminally exploited from accessing slavery support, putting them in restraints & chucking them to the wolves.

This was received by a volunteer at Horsforth Town of Sanctuary. This man's story shows that every act of kindness matters. Every show of solidarity creates hope. When we welcome people seeking sanctuary into our communities, we all become stronger.
