Cocojoey mashes up metal, showtunes, drum’n’bass, prog-rock, and more, leveling up their overstimulating compositions with a more refined approach pitchfork.com/reviews/albums…

Unrelentingly paced and overstuffed with ideas; with each successive track, it feels like Cocojoey is trying to push the gas pedal even further through the floor pitchfork.com/reviews/albums…

i love this bit from Philip’s review in the Chicago Reader , which really captures the spirit of STARS. much of the album is about accepting chaos and a lack of total control, and finding an inner anchor within that acceptance (1/3)

the tracks are written to be hard to follow upon first listen, with dropped/added beats, strange rhythms etc. if you think too hard it might not make sense. but the big beats are usually uninterrupted, so if you just let go and feel the beat, you can dance to it no problem (2/3)
