We wish a very happy 89th birthday to Charlie Duke! Duke was CAPCOM during the first Moon landing and backup lunar module pilot on Apollo 13. At age 36 he took country music to the #Moon as the youngest #moonwalker of the Apollo programme. Happy Birthday, Charlie!

February 3rd, 1995: STS-63 launches and Eileen Collins becomes the first woman to pilot a space shuttle.

The main objective of STS-63 - Eileen Collin's first mission - was to rendezvous with Russia's MIR station. The closest approach - within just 11 metres - took place Feb 6 1995. Here is a fabulous image of Valeriy Polyakov looking out of Mir’s window during the rendezvous.
