Crazy fires fuelled by high winds and tinder dry conditions #Palisadesfire. There has been a recent massive increase in wildfires in California but really, a fire this big in January? This is unprecedented. One of many extreme events fuelled by the #ClimateCrisis

Persistent exposure to heatwaves, droughts, wildfires and more will take a toll on people’s bodies. We must learn how this will manifest, says Dann Mitchell go.nature.com/42iixOU

#StormÉowyn is approx 700 nautical km from landfall with a latest approx. Central pressure approaching 953hPa - the storm is showing the most impressive signature I can recall in all the years I have been observing meteorology, looking exceptionally deadly. There is a noticeable

A lot of folks asked why I thought this January's record global temperatures were so unexpected. I think this graph shows it pretty clearly: pretty much every other January with La Nina conditions has been cooler than the surrounding years.

The situation at Heathrow today should make us think more about infrastructure resilience, dependencies and cascading risks. Especially with extreme weather risks increasing so rapidly from climate change. theconversation.com/heathrow-fire-…

Record high eclipsed. 92 at the airport in Tampa. This is ~35 days earlier than the long term average first 90 degree day. About 20 days earlier than the modern first 90 degree day. And about 50 days earlier than the early 1900s average. It's not coincidence its climate change.

Wow. Impressive. HUGE 1-in-1000 year flood did indeed take place over the 4 days period and the result is major to historic flooding forecast at over 50 river gauges!

Among the nearly 100% of records broken , 44C also for the first time in history in April at Dubai AP It's hotter than a normal July day and a normal July night and it will get worse In 3 centuries of climatic history NOTHING can be compared to what it's happening in Asia now

Sadly, a severe heatwave is now underway for western Europe & expected to spread to central Europe next week. Unusually strong Atlantic westerlies will drive bouts of tropical maritime that wrap into a persistent area of high pressure, working alongside a day-to-day heat build.
