Inspiring to join 1400 school students in Tonga today testing the tsunami early warning system . Education on disaster risk is crucial to save lives and no one knows this better than the communities here after the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai volcano and tsunami last year.

It was an honour to meet Prime Minister Siaosi Sovaleni of Tonga today, a true champion of disaster risk reduction. We discussed the importance of accelerating practical implementation of the Sendai Framework following the midterm review at the UNGA.
