Protesters outside of a closed-door hearing with Pete Marocco, the Trump appointee behind the sweeping cuts in US foreign assistance and at USAID.

HAPPENING NOW: AIDS activists and fired USAID workers perform a sit-in outside a closed door meeting with Peter Marocco, the Trump cabinet member behind the global aid freeze.

The Bureau for Global Health identified dozens and dozens of contracts it deemed 'lifesaving' and Peter Marocco personally slashed 90% of them. These cuts are already killing people. Illegal, immoral.

It means the waivers are a lie.

11 global health advocates including veteran AIDS activists and fired USAID workers got arrested outside a closed door meeting with Peter Marocco highlighting his role in the international aid freeze impacting millions worldwide including people living with HIV/AIDS.

Today in D.C., our Housing Works and other healthcare advocates staged a powerful civil disobedience at Peter Marocco’s office—the architect behind USAID’s shutdown. Ten arrests were made as we stood up for justice. We are not backing down. Marocco has blood on his hands.
