Working with partners to plant trees helps deliver better benefits for local communities. We loved working with Woodoaks Farm to plant hedgerows that will form an agroforestry system. Learn what we are doing to plant trees this #NationalTreeWeek: orlo.uk/R1d85

New study suggests organic farming is necessary to promote agroecosystem multifunctionality, but landscape-scale preservation of seminatural habitats is likely insufficient🌱 Hedgerows bring further benefits without compromising agricultural production📈 doi.org/10.1111/1365-2…

Look what I found in the Mendips! The owner obviously knows what they're doing; they've left some stems standing as new hedge trees & theyve started lightly trimming the regrowth to encourage branching density Mendips have the oldest hedgelaying society in the world &it shows

Thanks to the Cambridge conservation volunteers and our own volunteers at hope farm who helped to lay and restore this line of hedge yesterday Amazing what a hard working team can do in 29 seconds!

22 hedge layers took part in our Annual Hedge Laying Competition on Saturday at Low Sizergh Farm. Beginner & skilled hedgelayers from across the north west demonstrated this traditional craft & attracted many onlookers during the day. Congratulations to all the winners!

This hedge was coppiced a few years ago and is now creaking with breeding birds. Linnet mating, Long-tailed Tit carrying food, Stonechat looking shifty, Dunnock, Whitethroat and Lesser Whitethroat all singing. Focus on rejuvenating hedges - coppice or lay.

It’s #NationalHedgerowWeek from 5-11 May, we have a new display to celebrate at #CharltonLibrary! 🍃 Pop in during library opening hours, browse and borrow books and be inspired by nature — more commonly found in the UK countryside, we need to work together to conserve hedgerows!

Today we're celebrating #PlantHealthDay 🌳 Plants help fight climate change: It is estimated that 4 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide is stored in UK forests. Trees are the ultimate multi-taskers in the fight against climate change.
