Volunteers such as Helen do a fantastic amount of work checking on Commonwealth War Graves graves in their local churchyards and reporting any issues. Spring is in the air!

When walking the #ypres battlefield recently I discovered this private memorial with a story of unimaginable suffering. So a few days later I made a special visit to pay my respects at Private Henshawโs grave in โฆCommonwealth War Gravesโฉ Dozinghem. #ww1

A fantastic find just now - a new sketch map of Hurdcott Camp! Private Geoffrey Rose was at Hurdcott in 1917 and wrote his memoir in 1930 based on his war diaries. This map was drawn from memory but is remarkably accurate. His memoirs and diaries are held State Library of NSW

A real privilege to be part of a small tour group shown 'behind the scenes' at the latest excavations Pompeii Sites by Dr Sophie Hay today. Fascinating to hear Sophie discuss the findings and see the excavations in progress. How I wish I could spend more time here! Thanks Sophie!

Living my best life here in Italy, exploring ancient history and eating lots of delicious food (and drinking a little wine...) Herculaneum yesterday, Pompeii Sites today and Positano to see the buried Roman villa on Saturday!

Today was a War Graves Week tour of Locksbrook Cemetery, Bath in superb weather. Lucky to be joined by 2 EOHO volunteers and members of the Commonwealth War Graves team who look after the plot, thank you.๐ Tomorrow is Sutton Veny & finally Tidworth on Thurs 8th May, so feel free to pop along.

Lots of hard work by some of my Commonwealth War Graves volunteers at Avonview Cemetery in #Bristol today. We checked, photographed & cleaned or tidied every single war grave here, 140 of them. A mix of WW1 & WW2, with many private memorials in amongst the Commission headstones. Great work!

What a fab photo sent to me by one of my Commonwealth War Graves volunteers Anthony, who looks after war graves in #Wiltshire. A robin fledgling blending perfectly with its environment, sitting on a lichen covered headstone in Redlynch. Anthony looks after 4 war graves here, all dating to #WW1.
