A huge well done 👏 to #GUH Physiotherapy Department for recently participating in Movember for Mens Health Awareness and raising €7000 for Pieta House.

The first intake of student nurses joined SUH in 1974 and the foundation was laid for the next 50 years of professionalism, compassion and dedication to patients. The group were welcomed back to SUH last week for a reception hosted by Director of Nursing, Maura Heffernan. 2/

Speaking about the reunion Maura said, “It was an absolute privilege and honour to welcome the class of 1974 back to SUH and to listen to their life’s journey 50 years on. One thing is certain; the ethos of nursing remains the same, safe compassionate care to our patients.” 3.

Great work being carried out across #UHG wards during a two day Multi-Agency Discharge event which commenced today. This exercise is designed to improve patient flow and prevent delays in discharging patients.

Great teamwork from all involved in achieving these results.

Today, Minister Carroll MacNeill Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD turned the sod on the site of the new 42 ward block development at SUH. A key priority for SUH is to increase and expand patient facilities to meet the growing demand for acute hospital services in our region.

The second CT scanner was officially opened by Minister Carroll MacNeill in SUH today as part of her visit. The service will be operational from May 5 2025 and will greatly add to the diagnostic capacity at the hospital; reducing waiting times for patients.

The first brick of the new 90 bedded Community Hospital in Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim was laid by Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll MacNeill. This being a major investment in health and social care for older people across county Leitrim.
