Of the 191 lucky ERC SyG awardees, 12 (6.3%) are from the US, i.e., European taxpayer money supports research in the US. While I greatly support the openness of the ERC to promote international collaboration, I wish US funding agency were similarly supportive of European science!

Congratulations to Charlie Dalin for winning the 2024/25 Vendée Globe single-handed round the world sailing race in an all-time record time of less than 65 days. Spectacular accomplishment. Fingers crossed for Boris Herrmann (10th place) for the remaining 3.000 mile finish line.
