"Samir Mehić Bowie, letters from Srebrenica", a movie produced by Detektor.ba (BIRN BiH) and Srebrenica Memorial Center, was shown last night to a new audience. Even after seeing it 4-5 times, it impresses and touches me. Very proud of this result of projects funded by #MATRA program of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs 🇳🇱.

Today, 2 days before the 30th anniversary of #SrebrenicaGenocide, I laid a flower at Samir Mehić – Bowie’s grave. A young man whose life and dreams were scattered in 1995. Tomorrow, at reopening of Lives Behind the Fields of Death Srebrenica Memorial Center, his story lives on. Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs 🇳🇱

Today, the Srebrenica Memorial Center and BIRN BiH officially opened the expanded exhibition "Lives Behind the Fields of Death." The exhibition is the result of a multi-year collaboration during which 200 survivor testimonies were recorded using oral history methodology.

Prior to the Srebrenica commemoration I met with the ‘Mothers of Srebrenica’. They are still fighting for justice for their loved ones and family members on a daily basis. The Netherlands continues to support their cause to keep the memory of the 8,372 victims alive.

“By building the future together, we honour all the victims of the genocide, we honour the survivors.” Today I spoke in Potočari at the impressive commemoration of the genocide in Srebrenica, 30 years ago this year. 1/4

On behalf of the Dutch government, I reiterated our apology for the Netherlands’ shared political responsibility in the failure of the international community to protect the people in Srebrenica. 3/4
