And those dead trees were probably part of developer efforts to provide BNG Biodiversity Net Gain. Current Government proposals will remove even that obligation on many sites. 😪 Not even dead trees will be required 🍂

Nature is being scapegoated for developers’ failure to build affordable homes. There’s no evidence wildlife is the blocker. We must defend green spaces and smash the broken developer-led model driving the housing crisis. Amendment 69 will stop the destruction of nature.

There are many I know who would love to park & cycle or would cycle in from villages like Credenhill, Lugwardine, Clehonger, etc but many of the park & cycle sites are not connected to safe cycle routes (eg Grafton, King's Acre Rd) & there is still no comprehensive City network

What's morally offensive is pursuing destruction of the planning system for #CarDependentSprawl, destroying land vital for #FoodSecurity, #WaterSecurity, drainage, flood-control, biodiversity + increasing greenhouse gas emissions into the bargain. Poverty needs #SocialRent.

This confirms what I and other water activists have been saying for years: Thames Water is ‘environmentally bankrupt’ in the sense that if the law was enforced against them for all the illegal sewage spills they are committing, they would be insolvent. What other business would

Some hospitals spend more on servicing their PFI debt than medicines. Opening up the NHS to the private sector has always been a spectacularly bad use of public money.

The term ‘affordable homes’ does a lot of heavy lifting. 17,400 - ‘the number of affordable homes funded through Section 106 agreements with detailed planning consent that had no buyer in October 2024…’ Out of 27k - 44% of affordable homes delivered in 2023-24 From National Audit Office.

This isn’t just about planning. It’s about power, accountability, and protecting what we love. The Planning Bill hands too much to developers and too little to communities. Help stop it—sign now: protectthewild.org.uk/planningbillpe…

The infamous bat tunnel is a symptom of our failure to properly weave nature into our countryside, towns & cities. We push species into ever smaller enclaves & then have to spend huge sums trying to protect the last remaining creatures. If we did things better, bats would be so

Massimo There will never be a city on Mars, unless we FIRST secure the long-term survival of our civilisation here on Spaceship Earth, with its finite & vulnerable life-support systems, which currently we are trashing.

Norman Foster: on saving and expanding the Green Belt 💚 “We need planning more than ever before. With planning you can create neighbourhoods which are walkable, which are compact. The mantra should be avoiding sprawl like Los Angeles.”
