We begun recruitment on Rapid-CoV! A COVID-19 diagnostic trial study under the PANDORA-ID-NET project, funded by the EDCTP. One aim is to develop an algorithm to rapidly test & triage patients showing up to ED's in sub-Saharan Africa with COVID-19 symptoms. Exciting times ahead!

So going to do a thread talking about sequencing SARS-CoV-2 the virus that causes COVID-19. Mostly for my own benefit to cement concepts but for yall too if you are interested in a layman breakdown. So first step is to make sure your samples have SARS-CoV-2 RNA in them.

We are sequencing! Came back into the lab over the weekend and got rewarded! My sequencing experiment worked! Note I am using an old flowcell and I am still getting enough reads that I don't think I need to run this the full 6 hours to get all the sequence data I need. Chuffed!

Submitted our first sequence ever to the GSAID global database! I am so chuffed! There are like over 2 million sequences here from scientists all over the world tracking the evolution of the SARS-CoV-2. More sequences to come!
