We recently discovered a priority code in presequences of mitochondrial precursors. Some are much ā€šstrongerā€˜ than others because they specifically recruit Hsp90 cochaperones and make use of Tom70. Very unexpected, at least for us. You can read the preprint biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Yay! This preprint is now published in eLife along with three peer reviews. The reviewers noted that the work is significant and the data is solid. They also pointed that biological follow up is limited. We will now work on this for the revision :) elifesciences.org/reviewed-prepr…

Dear Yura, This is an interesting inspiring study with an exciting novel tool. I wonder why you found that many IM proteins dive all the way into the matrix šŸ¤”. This reminds me of the conservative sorting discussion of the 90s.

Our little Spotlight article discusses an exciting recent study by Hilla Weidberg and colleagues about an extactor that removes stalled precursors from the mitochondrial TOM complex

It is still possible to register for the GBM Compact meeting on Imaging in Frankfurt, Sep 26/27. It is almost fully booked but a few seats are still available. Exciting biology and lots to learn about imaging. Great opportunity for networking. GBM e.V. gbm-compact.org/gbm-compact-2.…

Congratulations, Yura, excellent! šŸŽ‰ You really deserved it! I look now forward to (more) exciting science from the Bykov lab (and to more hand-drawn pictures) 😜

Peroxiredoxins form heterooligomeric rings that serve as chaperones and oxidoreductases for a broad range of substrates. Look at this exciting study from Bruce Morgan, Marcel Deponte, Joris Messens and many others: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
