Nirvana fallacy. It’s not true that vaccines “don’t reliably prevent infection or transmission.” They do, just not as well as we’d like. She’s equating “don’t 100% prevent” with “don’t prevent at all.” Dichotomous thinking during the pandemic has been the bane of public health.

People often wildly underestimate how much they don’t know in fields they’ve never trained for. Imagine someone who’s never done your job lecturing you on how to do it. That’s exactly how a social media troll sounds—never treated a patient, never run an experiment, yet

This is brilliant, we should have been doing this for decades. The knowledge gap is huge and will only increase as we learn more about our world. We not only need this but will need full time professional science communicators!

A very boring and easily debunked trope that is perpetuated by pseudoscience apologists is that “medical errors are the 3rd leading cause of death”: sciencebasedmedicine.org/are-medical-er…

Well, my dog has eyes & ears too, but he still doesn’t diagnose cancer, & neither do paramedics. I’m interested to hear I’m a ‘lobby group’ ‘spreading misinformation’ & would like to know more, but Jonathan blocked me 🙄

JFC, can the idiots who’re upset at the ostrich farm being culled stop using the word “antibodies” like they know what the fuck they’re talking about? I thought you people were against science for curing things? Now science matters??

I've never finished a difficult ER shift and said "damn, we need privatized healthcare system that allows the rich to jump the queue and get their medical care first drawing away the fixed number of healthcare professionals we have in Canada".

In other news: Christmas items are coming out on the shelves. Weird timing, huh? 🙄 Flu takes 2-4 days to be symptomatic and we started vaccinating in September. There would be a spike earlier if it were the vaccine.

‘It doesn’t matter if it’s pasteurized or not’ or ‘the chances for contamination are much lower’ with pasteurized milk is an odd contradiction. Raw milk is dangerous, and people consuming it and living to tell the tale isn’t evidence otherwise
