MPs have released a report on Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office's work on hunger & nutrition. Coming after the announcement of UK aid cuts & just before #N4GParis, it gives a timely warning for the government not to repeat the mistakes of the previous, which slashed UK aid for nutrition by over 60%.

We welcome the UK Government's launch of the Nutrition Integration Compact at the Nutrition for Growth Summit in Paris. We hope it will help bring partners together to drive multi-sector action and tackle the underlying causes of malnutrition. 1/5

But this important work needs resourcing. The summit has successfully leveraged $28 billion to fight malnutrition globally. Yet one partner is missing when it comes to financial commitments - the UK. 2/5

As the summit comes to a close, the UK has still made no financial commitment to nutrition as we continue to battle against a backdrop of cuts to UK aid. 3/5

Now is the time to invest. Global cuts to aid will mean 2.3 million severely acutely malnourished children may lose access to life-saving treatment, leading to 369,000 additional child deaths per year. We will not abandon children now or in the future. 4/5

At the Nutrition for Growth Summit this week we committed $663 million to help prevent and treat child malnutrition. We think the UK should be stepping up too and we're calling on them to make a strong financial pledge to tackle malnutrition, as soon as possible. 5/5
