Today marks 1,392 days since Afghan girls and women have been denied education, work, and their basic rights—simply for being women. Be the voice of Afghan women.

This reporter - Matt - now calls himself Emma and talks of his ‘euphoria’ while wearing a dress to work in BBC sport. I’m not questioning his ability in the job. But it’s useful for people to be aware who works in a dept that awarded ‘Female footballer of the Year’ to a male.

This really is a very peculiar plot-twist. It's hard to think of any sensible reason why GLP would redact the names of its barristers. What's that about?

🧵(Another) thread on Police Scotland's transgender search policy. Nearly a decade ago the Scottish Parliament passed the Criminal Justice (Scotland) 2016 Act. After a drawn-out controversy, the Act put the use of stop and search in Scotland onto a statutory-only basis.

It was profoundly dispiriting to see a well-qualified and well-briefed candidate asked extraordinarily stupid, insulting and ignorant questions. Hopefully Bridget Phillipson will simply ignore

Perhaps MPs on Women & Equalities Committee & UK Parliament Human Rights Committee would like to tell us how many of them were elected on a platform of ignoring the rights of women & lesbians. The peers of course are fortunate that they don’t need to worry about accountability. thetimes.com/article/5cc666…

Having watched some hearings of Women & Equalities Committee I can’t say it’s fit for purpose - full of ignorant lines of questioning by MPs who not only misunderstand the law they haven’t done the most basic homework. It’s an embarrassment to parliament really- not a grown up endeavour at all.

Fair play to BBC Northern Ireland for acknowledging issues with this part of its coverage on the Supreme Court sex ruling. Other parts of the organisation should take note, and be more willing to admit mistakes. We all make them.

The Women & Equalities Committee is not fit for purpose. A complete embarrassment. Members clearly understand neither the Supreme Court ruling nor the Equality Act, but oppose the appointment of someone who does. The Chair made an absolute fool of herself. Disgraceful. thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

This is outrageous! A divorcee has been forced by a judge to pay half for her ex-husband’s trans surgery. telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/07/1…

This is undoubtedly a safeguarding issue. That government money is being spent on this dangerous madness is absolutely disgraceful. thetimes.com/article/6d9dbb…

Watson is looking at you - yes, YOU. Small Bomb at Dimperley is out in paperback in a month, and I have two signed copies to give away. RT before tomorrow tea-time (4.45pm) and Watson will choose the person he likes the look of most. Bribes possibly accepted.

Only in political transvestism could a failed attempt to render homosexuality legally meaningless be described as an attempt to roll back hard won rights, even though that was precisely the intention of the Scottish Government.
