We were delighted to welcome local MP Harpreet Uppal MP to Hill View Academy yesterday! Harpreet talked to KS2 about her role as an MP and answered some questions from Y6 who have been learning about democracy.

Following the launch of our school council elections, all children have been busy voting at our own polling station. Well done to the four/five children in each class selected to be on the ballot! Keep checking this page for the announcement of our newly elected school council.

Hill View Academy were lucky to have a visit from the The Transpennine Route Upgrade team. Here they are talking to Y3 about sustainability and biodiversity. Y3 thought about how they could make our school grounds more sustainable and biodiverse.

Year 6 had a workshop today led by Laura from The Base at Kirklees all about the dangers of vaping.

Y6 girls’ football held Moor End Academy this week saw some great skills from Hill View Academy Rowley Lane PTA Kirkburton Middle School Scissett Middle School Kirkheaton Primary School Moldgreen Community Primary School. Great leaders from Moor End refereed all of the games. Well done to eventual winners Hill View Academy

Our Year 6 Leadership team organised Hill View's harvest festival collection. They wrote letters to parents, created/led presentations in classrooms and delivered the donations to church. Over 500 items collected + donated to SMASH food share. #charity #generousity Impact Education MAT

KS1 had a great time this morning playing out on our new playground markings! It has been lovely to see the children enjoying the activities together.

Today, Y6 walked up to the war memorial in the village to pay their respects to the many soldiers who sacrificed their lives for us. The children laid a wreath which they had created.

Today, we hosted two very special guests: Rt Revd Smitha Prasadam Bishop of Huddersfield + Bishop Moses from Tanzania. Pupils led a tour of school, discussing their learning, 4R's and i-Challenge. With Bishop Moses, pupils compared British and Tanzanian schooling. Impact Education MAT

What an amazing 2 days we have had on our Year 5 London residential! We have been sightseeing, on the London Eye, to the Natural History Museum and to see The Lion King!

Year 6 have enjoyed 4 glorious days in Ambleside on residential! Walking, exploring caves, ghyll scrambling, canoeing, kayaking, boat rides and tree top nets... the children have showed amazing resilience and have made memories to last a lifetime. #whereheartsandmindsconnect
