Whatever people’s views about the concessions, surely everyone can see the process here is ALL wrong? Third Reading in eight days? A timetable like that diminishes the role of MPs in getting this legislation right, shuts out disabled people and puts too many at risk.

Chaotic, rushed-through concessions drawn up on the back of a napkin are no way to make policy that will affect millions of people. MPs must vote NO on benefit cuts, and work with Disabled people to coproduce reforms to welfare that help Disabled people instead of punishing us.

#WelfareReformBill The entire welfare reform bill should have been binned. MPs had no idea what they voted on. Ministers in chaotic disarray. Disabled people are angry anxious and scared Now we hold MPs to account who voted for the terrible welfare reform bill

PenScribbler (@scribblerpen) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This is still happening, regardless of "concessions" The Labour Party. And even *with* concessions, the #WelfareReformBill still attacks very disabled people on UC Health. Extra cost of being disabled in UK to rise by almost 12% in five years, says Scope report theguardian.com/politics/2025/…

Disability Rights UK (@disrightsuk) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The Government's concessions completely ignore the thousands of Disabled people on Universal Credit with LCWRA. They are still proposing this be slashed from £416 to just over £200. This bill cannot be salvaged by concessions - it must be scrapped.

On the #DWPGreenPaper and the #WelfareReformBill the Government is marking its own homework. A minister can't both represent disabled people and prioritise cutting their access to welfare — or deliver an impartial review of PIP assessment criteria while also delivering the cuts.

We refuse to let co-production be co-opted. It is a complicated and unique process that involves the centring of Disabled voices and experiences - not as a tick box exercise, but making our experiences central to decision making. Some food for thought this #CoProWeek2025

Thousands of disabled people face a disproportionate impact from the cuts that remain in the Bill. We thank MPs who listened to us and bravely opposed it. We will continue to resist this disastrous Bill and all other attacks on our rights.

A British news channel has said it has nothing to apologise for after a right-wing commentator and comedian suggested the best way to cut the number of disabled people claiming benefits was to starve, or even shoot, them. disabilitynewsservice.com/gb-news-says-i…

Broadcasters have a responsibility to consider the impact of the content they air. 'Joking' about killing disabled people at a time when we experience hostility, abuse and exclusion in our daily lives is harmful. NUJ

Chaotic events in parliament on Tuesday, and three months of activism since the publication of the Pathways to Work green paper, have left disabled people’s organisations appalled, shocked, and struggling to trust the government. #binUCbill disabilitynewsservice.com/disastrous-cut…

✂ The Universal Credit (UC) and PIP Bill no longer includes PIP. And it's thanks to all who united against cuts to disability benefits. But it's not over yet. Cuts to UC will still plunge disabled people into poverty. We can't accept that. We won't. And neither should you ❌

It's vital that #journalists report on the proposed welfare reforms and bring disabled people's voices and stories to the front. The impact will be deeply harmful if the cuts go through. This needs proper scrutiny, not regurgitation of the government line. #BinUCBill

Actually around 50,000 people will be pulled into poverty by remaining cuts in Bill – this now our best estimate based on Govt’s impact assessments. Joseph Rowntree Foundation previously showed how DWP sleight of hand underplayed true poverty impact – same applies to this latest publication. 🧵1/3

Iain Porter (@iainkporter) 's Twitter Profile Photo

So best estimate we currently have of remaining impact of Bill (combined deep cut to UC-health and small uplift to UC basic rate) is from Govt's original impact assessment Table B3 (50,000 net rise in poverty) - see previous explanation here: 3/3 x.com/IainKPorter/st…
