Aberrant expression of cytokeratins is a rare, but recognised phenomenon in GISTs. In most series, it is observed at a rate of 1-4%, but in some series this was as high as 15%: journals.lww.com/ijpm/fulltext/… This is a pitfall if there isn't a significant spindle cell component.
