Year 5 were fascinated throughout our learning of segregation. All of the children asked lots of deep yet respectful questions. We went on to learn about how NASA impacted the Jim Crow laws and attempted to fight segregation. JCA History


Year 5 are super proud of their writing today. We wrote about how NASA influenced attitudes on segregation, in particular on the Jim Crow Laws, and how this impacted the Space Race. JCA History JCA Writing Jerry Clay Academy Science


Year 4 have worked hard this afternoon to research inventions of the Industrial Revolution in History. We researched different inventions then shared what we had discovered with our table to increase their knowledge. #oracy #inventions JCA History


Brilliant to see the children retrieving their knowledge of the first British railway on their trip to the National Railway Museum



Year 2 had a special delivery yesterday! A huge box filled with mining artefacts from the National Coal Mining Museum! They loved exploring each item and making inferences as to why they would have been useful for miners. JCA History #artefacts #investigators



In History this week, Year 1 learnt about Sandal Castle and how it has changed over time, “I can’t believe it looked last that and now it is a ruin” JCA History


The Ancient Greek Olympics were held this afternoon in Year 4. We researched the different ancient events of the games and then took part in running, long jump and even horse racing! The children were then awarded a leaf wreath which they had made themselves!🏃♀️JCA History


Year 5 have had a great afternoon during their topic launch. They researched the Space Race, created presentations and presented their work to the class. JCA History


Year 6 enjoyed a historical afternoon looking at the chronology of the Battle of Bosworth and the impact that the end of the war had on the monarchy and society. JCA History


Year 6 continued their History learning this afternoon looking at the crimes during the Tudor period and the punishments that the government enforced on different classes of society. JCA History
