Today I did the first two (of three parts on Holy Island) described in Page and Kille's recent book. Holy Island - The Heugh, Castle and up to The Beacon. In all it was a 7 mile walk. The book is a superb guide. Back tomorrow for Bamburgh etc. #Lindisfarne

I so love working with Old Magic Lantern Slides. Professional images can be cropped and restored to a very high standard, like this one of Grainger Street, Newcastle. The pile of horse dung to the left of the tram and the people standing on the corner are recognisable .

140 years ago W S Parry, a photographer from Newcastle pressed the shutter button and captured an image that is fascinating. The building of Alfonso XII in the Wigham Richardson Shipyard. Zoom in,see all the little stories captured within the shipyard. Simply breathtaking.

Morning. I've added a history of Milne Park to the Sports Archive, a short lived ground where Bedlington Aldi now stands. It was the home of the Mechanics from the late 40s til the early 60s, and named after its owner - local entrepreneur Jimmy Milne. northeastheritagelibrary.co.uk/sports-archive…

With inspiration from John R Short Hon.FRCPCH I took DeeVid for a spin with this incredibly rare shot of Morpeth Market Place in the 1860s. Even I have to admit it provides a whole new perspective on the oldest photographs we have of our region. Quite amazed by this.
