We did these when I was a CA3 at Hopkins Anesthesiology Residency Program in 07-08. They took more time to place (we gowned) and manage (lots of TLC, follow up) but in retrospect, it was the right thing to do then and the right thing to do now. Kudos to Ed Mariano, MD, MAS, FASA, FASRA 🇺🇸🇵🇭 for highlighting this important topic

Michael Hofkamp, MD, FASA Hopkins Anesthesiology Residency Program I agree with you - not the easy choice but the right one. Shoulder surgery is severely painful, and pain experience may differ between patients. Single-injection is usually chosen by the physician based on assumptions: …-publications.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/an… 𝘈𝘯𝘢𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘢 Kariem

We've all experienced this...being called to the ED for an airway, only to be scurried away by the EM physicians. How can we work with our ED colleagues to collaborate on trauma airway management ? Read more in @asamonitor. @asalifeline ACEP EMS/Disaster buff.ly/COv5inR

Imagine walking into an OR where a da Vinci robot and an ether copper kettle vaporizer coexist… (note: this is an exaggeration, but you get my point!)

Dr. Bill Camann co-led a wonderful grand round today discussing the storied history of anesthesia. He was introduced by our future fellow, Dr. Daniel Berenson. Our fellows are lucky to enjoy a yearly anesthesia history tour led by Dr. Camann, across various key sites in Boston!

I love the Ten Commandments. I’ve tried to build my life on the Ten Commandments. But forcing teachers to post the Ten Commandments violates the most important commandment: love thy neighbor.

As a rule I don’t endorse political candidates, and this shouldn’t be taken as an endorsement, but I am deeply impressed with Dr. Andrews Dr. Annie Andrews her knowledge (and excellent sense of humor), and we certainly need pediatricians in the U.S. Congress

You’re a doctor making $250K a year. You’ve got a 2-year-old. Your mortgage is $5,500/month because, of course, you live where everything costs a kidney. You want to save for retirement and your kid’s college. Let’s get real for a sec.

Couldn't agree more Ed Mariano, MD, MAS, FASA, FASRA 🇺🇸🇵🇭 All my patients having a total shoulder replacement or shoulder orif get a catheter + multimodal I definitely notice a huge difference with occasional catheter dislodgement on Day 1 or 2 post op

Unlock the truth about ketamine in @asamonitor! Often misunderstood, it is life-saving in medical settings but dangerous when misused. Stay informed on this powerful anesthetic in this article by Corinna Yu, MD, MBA, FASA & former @asalifeline president Dr. Clark. buff.ly/yOmHCOX

RMD’s in retirement are interesting: You pay ordinary income tax on your withdrawals, assuming the balances were pre-tax (accounts like a Traditional IRA, Rollover IRA, 403b, Pre-tax 401k…as examples.) If you’re married, these withdrawals will be taxed at MFJ rates. If one

The arms race of residency has made prelim I-med years an endangered species. And that’s too bad because I lived the “House of God” before I became an anesthesiologist
