Very relieved to be sending home this healthy colt today! He developed life-threatening bacterial endocarditis on his tricuspid valve (R side of 🫀) and was very sick.Aggressive IV antibiotics /medications fortunately resolved it and 3wks later final cardiac ultrasound is normal🎊

This 4-wk old STB filly was born with a marked varus (‘turned in’) deformity of her RH ankle and needed a little help🔩🪛By placing a temporary screw on the side of the growth plate with the disparate growth we can slow that side down while the other side catches up! In 2-3 weeks

We have dozens of migrating bird species on our clinic property that spend the summers with us - here is a BALTIMORE ORIOLE mother working overtime to keep her growing youngsters well fed (and scolding them back into the nest!!)🪹

Awfully satisfying when things work out! 😃This STB colt was very lame as a yearling last June and was pulled from sales consideration. He had a very large bone cyst (a form of OCD) in his L stifle. In the past, many things (bone grafts, stem cells, curettage, drilling - you name

People often ask is a fetlock arthrodesis (surgical fusion) really a worthwhile option to pursue for a horse? If the goal is a pain-free pasture life, then a resounding YES. This older stakes mare (the grey!) had severe debilitating arthritis of her LF ankle and could not walk

This little STB foal was, unfortunately, kicked in the side of her face. Her eyeball was ok but radiographs showed multiple fractures to the orbit (eye socket) and zygomatic bone but it was hard to determine 3-D aspect of fracture configuration. A quick CT (computed tomography)

Phew been a busy week! 😅Very satisfying to send this lovely TB colt home today. He sustained a very serious spiraling condylar fx to his RH last week. These are very complicated fxs and can propagate or catastrophically fail. The newer LCP (locking compression) bone plate has been

In both human and veterinary medicine the trend is towards Minimally Invasive Surgery🤔- getting big things done with minimal disruption to the surrounding tissues! CT has been a huge help in that regard - this week we had 2 very similar (but rare) hock slab fractures. By using

A nice resolution here for a very rare problem! This 2-yr-old TB colt suddenly developed an unusual exaggerated gait w/RH limb in early June. It’s not a lameness but rather a neuromuscular issue associated with a particular muscle group of the hindquarters-it’s called Fibrotic

Tuesday is never a normal day around here - it is known specifically as 🔥FIRE DRILL 🔥TUESDAY !🤪 - it is a VERY busy early morning window with horses coming/going on a weekly van from Belmont Park. A highly coordinated effort of unloading all the new arrivals and then grooming
