Just in case we all forgot. The person leading our country cannot get his calls returned by the US President. He does not have the confidence of his own caucus or parliament. How is he the best person to lead us through this crisis? We are a banana republic because of the vanity

Andrew Leslie (@honandrewleslie) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Yup. That’s a very fair comment. We could and really must rapidly increase our defence spending to grow our forces and provide them modern equipment, and do much better on border security #cdnpoli

Andrew Leslie (@honandrewleslie) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Serious and demonstrable action is urgently required to show Canada is serious about borders and defence. Fully agree with this emergency response because its’s the right thing for our sovereignty and the US’s security. A win win #cdnpoli

Trying to make this really simple. Spend. More. Money. On. Defence Equipment. And Output. And. Border Security. Now (and not over several years in the future). #cdnpoli

Unless Canada shows immediate and effective investments in borders and defence the probability of Us tariffs remains high. Why not deploy troops etc as a stopgap? Could it be that the current govt actually wants a tariff fight with the US? #cdnpoli

Andrew Leslie (@honandrewleslie) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Why not try to fix the things that are causing US angst?Send more people and equipment to better secure our border, address the trade imbalance, and immediately spend lots more money on defence, as we promised for a decade. It’s not that hard #cdnpoli

Andrew Leslie (@honandrewleslie) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Fair enough. But the US concerns about our increasingly porous border and laggardly defence spending dates back to Presidents Biden and Trump1 so….what have we done about it?

Andrew Leslie (@honandrewleslie) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Understood. But for our own sovereignty and deterrence the urgency of modernizing and growing our Armed Forces is now immediate, as is true of more boots (CBSA/RCMP/CAF) on the borders. And Cdn troops in the Arctic! #cdnpoli

Great question. We should export less hydrocarbons to the US, and use and some of them ourselves, or supply Japan and Europe. Build a major West to East pipeline, build our own refineries and diminish our reliance on the US for processing etc

Welcome home to the members of The Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians), who were in London to fill the role of King’s Life Guard. This was only the third time for a non-British unit. Thanks to them for representing us so well.
