Today, we placed 2 new fire engines in service. The apparatus were manufactured by Sutphen. They were custom designed to allow for short wheel base, low hose bed and a tighter turning radius. Engine 3 will be located at Station 3 and Engine 8 will be located at Station 8. #hoover

Last week, we hosted Derick Reinhart with Phoenix Rope to conduct training with the Arizona Vortex. Personnel from Calera Fire and Vestavia Hills Fire also attended. Crews trained in basic and advanced use of this equipment and on advanced rope systems. #hooverfire #hoover #HFD

This week, we attended Equip Services 2022 Career Expo. High school students from the Birmingham Area attended the event. We enjoyed spending the day getting to talk to students about the fire service! #hooverfire #HFD

Last Saturday, RC3 Fire Academy students spent the day at the Hoover Fire Training Center. They learned and practiced skills on fire behavior, rope rescue lowering, vehicle extrication and search and rescue scenarios and a series of job related tasks with smoke simulation. #HFD

We have several fire units at the City Heights apartments on Alpine Village Drive off Lorna Road on a large brush fire that was driven by the wind. No buildings are involved at this time. The fire is under control. #HFD #hooverfire

The brush fire has been extinguished. Two patients were treated for smoke inhalation. One building, although not directly involved, received enough thermal damage to the exterior to displace families in twenty-six units.  Red Cross has responded to the scene. #HFD #hooverfire

Friday evening, Engine 1, 2, 3 & 4, Truck 4, Rescue 4 & 11, District 1 & 2 responded to an apartment fire on Summer Place Pkwy. The fire was contained to one apartment and was quickly extinguished with no injuries. The fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire.

On Tuesday, Engine 4, Engine 1, Truck 4, District 1 and District 2 responded to assist Rocky Ridge Fire Department on a structure fire at Acton Park Townhomes. Vestavia Hills Fire and Birmingham Fire also responded to the call. #HFD #hooverfire

Last week, we hosted a Surface Water and Swiftwater exercise for the AFC. All who attended are members of Alabama Task Force 2 in the Alabama Mutual Aid System which deploys personnel statewide to assist with search and rescue during flooding and other natural disasters. #HFD

Hoover units E2, E4, T4, R4, R5, R10, R11, & D1 assisted Rocky Ridge FD along with Vestavia FD with a large apartment fire yesterday off Old Rocky Ridge Road. Several residents were injured requiring transport to the hospital. Please pray for all the families affected. #HFD

Hazmat 2, Engine 6 and District 2 on scene at John Hawkins Pkwy (Eastbound) & ATI Pkwy on a hazmat spill from an 18-wheeler. Command Staff estimates the scene should be cleared up within 2 hours. Use caution when traveling through this area. We will update as needed. #HFD
