7/7/1990-Sammy Swindell capped off a dominant Ohio Speedweek championship with his 5th win in 7 events. Swindell passed Kevin Huntley for the lead on lap 11 and led rest of the 30 lap All Star feature event. Huntley, Ricky Hood, Kenny Jacobs and Danny Smith were top five.

7/7-HAPPY HEAVENLY BIRTHDAY to Stan Fox. The former Indy 500 starter won the 1990 USAC Four Crown Nationals Midget event for his only Eldora win. Fox passed away in 2000 at 48 years old. He would have been 73 years old today.

I miss Merlin Olsen. A true renaissance man who could kick your ass, eloquently break down exactly how he did it, then send you a thoughtful bouquet of flowers as a gesture of goodwill.
