The city is set to spend at least $437 million (likely much more) in unnecessary "upgrades" that will make Lansdowne a worse experience for sports fans. Councillor Shawn Menard makes the case for getting out of this terrible deal: ottawacitizen.com/opinion/lansdo…

Today, Ottawa city councillors have an opportunity to take real leadership and vote to take steps to ban fossil fuel ads on city property. Staff say it's "too risky" but during a climate crisis it's a risk worth taking. From me in Ottawa Citizen: ottawacitizen.com/opinion/ottawa…

We're glad the Environment Committee approved Shawn Menard's motion to direct staff to monitor legal challenges to new federal greenwashing amendments to the Competition Act, making a ban on fossil fuel advertising still possible. Read our full coverage: bit.ly/4jY82FA

Extreme heat is coming to Ottawa on Monday, with a forecasted high of 35°, feeling like 47° with the humidity. This is a serious danger for many, particularly the unhoused. City of Ottawa and Mark Sutcliffe need to ensure cooling centres are available to keep the public safe.

We have called on City of Ottawa and Mark Sutcliffe to open emergency cooling centres for those who don't not have the privilege of cooling off at home or having A/C but so far we've seen no response. We need to make sure everyone in our city remains safe.

🌡️Ottawa needs a max heat bylaw like our friends from Ottawa ACORN have been advocating for! 44% of low-income tenants lack AC while extreme heat kills seniors. ottawa.citynews.ca/2025/05/24/ten…

Like we warned City of Ottawa councillors, these unconstitutional "bubble bylaws" are now being challenged in the courts and will cost cities in legal fees. There are still 8 months before a draft bylaw comes to Ottawa City Council and to ensure people's rights are protected.

Zohran's victory should ignite excitement everywhere including in Ottawa. We don't need to keep electing boring, uninspiring mayors or city councillors who want to hold back what's possible here. Start organizing and join Horizon Ottawa as a member: horizonottawa.ca/membership?fbc…
