Today saw the start of our exciting new project with The Derbyshire Wildlife Trust. We are going to be bringing the nature reserve at Arboretum park back to life for the public to enjoy again. We started with surveying the area for animals and plants. Derbyshire Wildlife Trust 🪵🍄🐚🌳🦔

James is one of our Yr13 students(furthest right), he has been accessing Inspire Fitness Ac twice a week as part of his timetable. At last weeks awards night he was presented with the opportunity to join the full coaching team and develop his role with them. 👏 👏

Our 3rd week at the Normanton Arboretum with Derbyshire Wildlife Trust where we are clearing and preparing a nature reserve for the local community. Fantastic progress so far and the place is looking ready to start planting in the next few weeks. Well done all students. 🌳🌿🌍🪱🐝🐜🕸

Today we showed our respect to the fallen on Remembrance Day at Derby Market Place. We had activities all morning around remembrance and what it means, making poppy wreaths that we left at the war memorial after the service. #Remembrance #RemembranceDay2021 #LestWeForget

Yesterday we had a visit from former Boxing World Champion Damon Hague. Damon came to talk to our students about his career, healthy living, keeping positive and adult life. Students asked some great questions and were really engaged, loved seeing the championship belt. 🥊♥️

We have collected our prizes for winning the best teamwork category in the Climate INaction midlands maker challenge Derby Museums Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill Midlands Maker Challenge Brilliant work by the students, thanks to Hope and Paul for supporting us - looking forward to the next challenge 🙌

This morning we had a virtual session with Tom and Nigel from NatWest MoneySense NatWest. We explored the facts about what banks offer and how to stay safe with online banking - we followed it up with a trip to our local banks to find out interest rates. 💷💷💷💷💷💷💷

Started our project at Elvaston Castle today, we have been clearing important areas to allow for better drainage so the site doesn’t flood. Students worked brilliantly all day and managed to clear a huge area. Well done all 🌳🪵🌱

Jack our yr12 student has started his role in Horizons as ICT Technician on work experience, throughout the week he will be keeping a list of any issues then helping our ICT support from L.E.A.D. IT Services on a Friday. Well done Jack, you are doing a great job 👨‍💻

Yesterday students took part in a dance therapy session with a student from Derby University, the activities were fantastic and engagement was great. These sessions will now be weekly after Christmas. 💃🕺👯‍♀️👯💃🕺

Thanks to O'Driscoll Collective and Derby QUAD for an absolutely fantastic day. We toured the superb exhibition, took part in a spoken word workshop and developed some great break dancing skills. Students were amazing throughout. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
