A sighting, not yet confirmed by NBU, of an #Asianhornet (Vespa velutina) in #Plymouth yesterday, about 800m from the dockyard. The suspect insect was seen attacking bees sniffing around a solar wax extractor. Photos were taken and reported through the Asian hornet smartphone app

Allot of confusion online about Asian hornets. The one we have invading the UK is second from left ‘yellow legged Asian hornet’ to the left of it is a common wasp, to the right our native hornet and the big one in centre is the giant Asian hornet which is not found in Europe.
