Think Big had always looked like a horse who was barely fast enough to get up going 5.5F. His dirt form suggested 1M would be no problem, and he found that same late surge at the end. Hoping all is well with Donegal Momentum. Looked like he slipped on the turf.

I get riding a heavy favorite with confidence, but chasing 3-wide without cover on turf can get even very good horses beat. The pace was also faster than expected. Nitrogen was best, but Fionn got it done today.

Where should Nitrogen run next?

While we are still trying to determine exactly what happened I am desperately relieved to report that Donegal Momentum is safely back at the barn and cooling out with total disdain of what just happened. A large yawn while having a bath and walking fine with no obvious injury

One of the cooler things happening in racing this weekend is He'spuregold attempting to win Sunday's Irish War Cry at Monmouth for the 5th consecutive year.

Will be interested to see the figs for Magnitude's win yesterday. Looks like it should be a pretty big number.

If you ask me, the runner-up initiated the bumping in upper stretch and the winner just gave it back. Would be surprised if there's a change.

He did it! The NJ-bred He'spuregold wins this stakes for the 5th year in a row. A remarkable achievement in this day and age.

Hopefully horses like Fifi La Fume actually win the photos for 2nd when the *real* Saratoga meet begins.
