On the other side of the continent to Hot Water on Ice @NorskPolar Icefin Oceans & Sea Ice NPI Prof. Elin Darelius the SWAIS2C team are also preparing to hot water drill through the ice shelf to access the ocean and seabed beneath.

We drilled a hole! After a full drill shake down followed by finding and fixing a few leaks, we made our first borehole down to the depth of the sub-ice cavity at 42 m British Antarctic Survey 🐧 @NorskPolar Oceans & Sea Ice NPI Icefin Prof. Elin Darelius

And that’s a wrap! After 5 days of science and two separate boreholes we have finished our scientific programme for this season.
