Cone Finishing Great drill bc can be constrained so many ways: -position of cones -2 foot finish only -weak hand only -no backboard -D can’t jump Possibilities are endless I like doing the drill for 5-7 minutes & changing constraint every :60-:90 Comes from Zoom Offense -

Chin sets are great. They open up the basket area and put the 5’s defender in a tough position. If they don’t help, the back screen may be open If they do help, they are late to the subsequent ball/flare screen. Here’s a ball screen example to get big gap and hi lo look.

Ball screen setup Crucial and overlooked part of ball screen O Most players rush using ball screens Jab away first and always look to reject When able to reject, beats 2 D If D reacts to jab, creates space to use screen WIN WIN From 20 Ball Screen Offense with Don Showalter -

ā€œScreen & Sealā€ 2 underused zone concepts 1. Screen zone to force rotation & create overload 2. Seal middle defender & look to post for 1v1 opportunities - don’t settle for jumpers Make sure your zone O does both For O that works v man & zone check out Flow Motion -

This UCLA to ball screen with weak side stagger has been one of my favorites for 15+ years So many options: 1. UCLA back screen for layup 2. Ball screen reject (no rim help) 3. Ball screen attack or hit roller (weak side occupied) 4. Weak side stagger Add it to your playbook!

Iverson cut SLOB play Lots of movement and flows into back screen and ball screen. Tough to guard and multiple actions to create advantage. Try it out!

Great counter to the original play below: Instead of rolling after ball screen, 5 Down screens for 1 coming back out same side Look at 1 for shot or post entry to 5

Do you look to trap special situations? SLOB are great chance to trap. - can set D and direct ball to area - takes O out of play Great way to disrupt & force TO See how Coach Kevin Furtado does this in Buzz Defense - breakthroughbasketball.com/pr/furtado-tra…

One other counter . . . Back screen to Spain ball screen Instead of 5 down screening 1 after ball screen, 1 peels back and sets a back screen for 5 Using all 3 as a family of plays makes it easy for your team to learn, impossible for opponents to scout!

Shuffle Sprint Shuffle Too many players shuffle against dribbler who’s sprinting True for pressing & non pressing teams The result - they get beat This is simple drill to work on shifting between shuffle & sprint. Good lead in to full court 1v1 Comes from Relentless

2v2 Penetrate & Pitch Great drill to develop decision making. Have to know when to finish, when to pass Driver gets advantage start. Drive to score. Pass if corner D helps D can work on recovery & stunting Give O 2 passes or :08 shot clock From The Youth Coaching System -
