A privilege to behold @rebecca_leggett’s honest flair and d. perez’s magical poise last night @OxfordLieder performing Schubert’s ‘Viola’; to see two performers so in sync both musically and (perhaps more interestingly) emotionally is a humbling experience. Proper stuff!

Thanks to BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and The Bridgewater Hall for a rainy few days in Manchester performing/recording this haunting mega-piece by Emily Howard with Claire Booth under Vimbayi Kaziboni. Here’s hoping my final desperate scrawling of ‘be prompt at Figure U’ yielded results…

We got some songs by Wolf, Cornelius, RVW, Bach, Praetorius, and Piers Kennedy down on tape the other day, complete with Richard Curtis film outfits. George Ireland getting that much closer to his destiny as a 1950s BBC newsreader…can anyone else hear it in his voice?!

A treat to visit Het Concertgebouw today for some flourishing Handel+Telemann with Les Arts Florissants - think the last time sang here was a Christmas gig with St John's College Choir, I remember a particularly chaotic and spirited Gents of St John's Jingle Bells encore…I wonder if Andrew Nethsingha remembers?
