Hull University Labour Club would like to pay tribute to former Deputy Prime Minister and alumni John Prescott. 40 years of service to East Hull, 10 years as Deputy Prime Minister, and a lifetime to our movement. He will be truly missed, and our thoughts are with his family.

Lord John Prescott - he never stopped to fight the people he represented. Even with his successes from Westminster to Kyoto - he never forgot his roots, his principle or his adopted city of Hull. Today, we lay him to rest. RIP John.

It was great to be joined by Cllr Jess Raspin last night getting to hear about when she chaired HULC, being on the NoLS exec and how she got into becoming a councillor and the importance of campaigning.

HULC were back on the doorstep in Newington and Gypsyville speaking to residents with our mayoral candidate Margaret Pinder, local MP Emma Hardy, Veterans Minister Al Carns, Labour group leader Cllr Daren Hale and local Cllr Tracey Dearing. Thank you to everyone who came out.

Great to be joined last night by Margaret Pinder our mayoral candidate for the upcoming Hull and East Riding election. We heard about what she wants to do as Mayor but also her amazing life before politics. Now we need to get Margaret elected.

Brilliant turnout over the weekend from Yorkshire and Humber students. Thank you to Leeds and York who joined us out on the doors campaigning for Margaret Pinder for Mayor alongside our brilliant Ings Cllrs Alan and Denise

Great to see so many students campaigning to Make Work Pay across the weekend. This Labour government is delivering the biggest upgrade to workers’ rights in a generation. For young workers that means more secure work, a boost to pay and protection from unfair practices.

If something isn’t working, I roll up my sleeves and fix it. I will reshape the state to deliver security for working people.

It’s the derby! Friday kick off at 6pm. Donations are going to Hull 4 Heroes who do some fantastic work for the societies large veteran population.

Whilst not the result we wanted an absolutely brilliant event put together by us and Hull Uni Tories raising a massive amount for Hull 4 Heroes. Thank you so much to everyone who played or watched and their generous donations.
