Our Year 6 Librarians thoroughly enjoyed themselves at the presentation ceremony for the Stockport Children's Book Awards last night!

A HUGE congratulations to Hursthead Junior School's Reader of the Year!🌟

A massive well done to both of our Y6 girls’ teams who played in the sun at the WASA football festival we hosted today after school. ⚽️☀️ Lots of good teamwork and goals and congratulations to our team which won and our team which finished 4th. 🏆👏⚽️🌟

4C made a great start on their art this afternoon. We created collagraphs using string and cardboard, ready to do some relief printing next week.

4C have been printing in their art lesson this afternoon. We experimented with different coloured printing inks and we were inspired by the concentric circles that appear in tree stumps.

3FP have been busy learning about fossils in a practical way! They used plasticine to re-create the sea bed, dog biscuits to represent the fossil, and layered paper towel sediment.

5W had a great time on their Forest School trip this week. They had fun exploring the area, building dens, playing group games and creating bush crafts, not to mention marshmallows and damper bread over the fire! ... how many hiders can you find in the first photo?

3FP have been exploring and sorting 3D shapes by examining the vertices, edges and faces.

4C were excellent role models during their trip to the Whitworth Art Gallery yesterday, showing our school's REAL wheel values of responsibility and enthusiasm.

5F enjoyed exploring volume in Maths today using multi-links to make our learning practical and help cement the new concept. 🧊🧮📦

3S were super scientists yesterday! They made careful observations of different types of soil before deciding which soil they would choose to grow plants in.🪴

5F’s fabulous wind chimes. 🌟💫💨🔔 The class showed excellent initiative and skill to construct them and should be very proud of their final results. They sounded amazing - very mindful and peaceful.

Congratulations to our Year 6 footballers, who used England's semi-final performance as inspiration, to win the semi-final of the Metro Cup. They showed great togetherness and played some lovely football to secure a 3-1 win. Onto the final we go! Could it be coming home? 🏆🦁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

4C had great fun in the kitchen this morning making chocolate lollipops. We enjoyed melting the chocolate and pouring it into the moulds.

5F had a great morning learning first aid and how to respond in an emergency with Lucy from #NemoFirstAid We looked at DR ABC and practised CPR as well as learn how to apply a bandage and safely respond or ask for a help if an accident happened. 🩹⛑️🏥❤️‍🩹🤕

Well done to our Y5 Shakespeare Storm players for a fantastic performance at the Lowry this week. You really rose to the challenge of presenting an engaging and powerful performance to bring the storm to life for the audience and show the deterioration of King Lear's mind.

3FP have enjoyed making a healthy salad for Healthy Hursthead Day, using lettuce which they have grown on Hursthead soil! The children demonstrated fantastic maturity and care when using sharp knives - well done everyone!

5F enjoyed a morning of board games and then outdoor art using watercolours as part of Healthy Hursthead Day, focusing on being mindful and relaxing whilst having fun. 🎨🖌️🌲🌳⛅️🎲🧩
