"Sturge Town offers the readers a poignant reminder of the place of ancestral names. There is a return to naming, to the acknowledgment of the living and the dead." - Rasaq Malik Gbọ́láhàn in convo with Kwame Dawes 🔥 theadroitjournal.org/issue-fifty-th…

"My poems about the dead are, I would like to think, love poems, poems that explore the nature of loss, the peculiar performance of mourning and its startling imposition on us." Massive thanks to Prof. Kwame Dawes, and thanks to The Adroit Journal. theadroitjournal.org/issue-fifty-th…

Thrilled to reveal the cover for my forthcoming book, ON MORRISON, out from Hogarth Books January 27, 2026! Thank you to @People Magazine for the announcement (link in thread).

For poetry on the boy child, I think for favorite poet of mine on the subject is Adedayo Agarau. He continue to witness for us what vulnerable masculinity means, quickly rejecting the patriarchal toxins that have polluted the imagination of the boy figure. In his new book too.

I am glad to have a new poem in The Walrus latest issue. This poem was written with my Moroccan friend, Houcien Abbouazza, in mind. We both waded thru America together in 2020. Grateful to Carmine Starnino for finding it worthy. Also coming forth from Contraband Bodies in Fall 2025

"Passing," my poem that received an honourable mention in Quarterly West's Poetry Contest, is out. You can read it and the judge's blurb here. Please read the entire spring issue, too; it is formidable. I am grateful to all the folks at QW. quarterlywest.com/issue-114-umuk…

I am so grateful to Ìfẹ́olúwa Àyàndélé 🕊🕊🦉🦉 for this tenderly generous review of Terminal Maladies in Southeast Review . I couldn't be any more grateful for the care and attention Mr Ayandele took. southeastreview.org/single-post/bo…
