I am appalled by the brutal Russian missile attack on Sumy city. People killed & injured going about their daily lives, some on their way to church for Palm Sunday. I utterly condemn this latest cowardly attack by Russia. These are not the actions of a country seeking peace

I condemn the shocking and horrific missile attack on the Ukrainian city of Sumy that killed dozens of civilians and injured hundreds more. Despite calls for a ceasefire, Russia continues its relentless and destructive war. The killing has to stop.

In Kyiv today, I saw the extent of Russian brutality first-hand when I visited a site of the recent rocket attacks. Humbled by the chance to offer my condolences to President Zelensky on behalf of the Irish people and laid a wreath in memory of the victims. Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦🇮🇪🇪🇺

Yesterday, I visited the shocking scene where Russia attacked a residential area in Kiyv, where many died and were injured. With my Lithuanian colleague, Sigitas Mitkus , I had the opportunity to express condolences with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський 🇮🇪 🇺🇦 🇪🇺 🇱🇹

It was an honour and privilege to attend the funeral of Pope Francis, on behalf of Ireland, led by President Higgins. Pope Francis challenged us all to be better, to care more, to judge less and to lead with kindness. His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
