The results of research on extended cost-benefit analysis of #tobacco #taxation and the #macroeconomic impact of tobacco taxation in #Serbia were presented to the representatives of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Serbia, Tobacco Administration at IES.

A fruitful discussion pointed out the need for further collaboration of science and #policymakers in creating effective #tobacco #taxation and tobacco #control policies in #Serbia.

#Economists, tobacco control experts, and representatives of #civil society associations gathered at the IES to improve knowledge of #tobacco use patterns, price measures for tobacco control in Serbia, and #advocacy skills for implementing these measures.

The need for further education and steps to strengthen #multisectoral cooperation was identified at the first #workshop in a series that the IES will organize within the #project Accelerating Progress on Effective Tobacco Tax Policies in Low and Middle-Income Countries.

The IES research team apostrophized the challenges in the #taxation #policy of tobacco products, including heat-non-burn tobacco products, but also emphasized the importance of applying #scientific #research in creating #tobacco #taxation #policies. @Tobacconomics IEN
