Guy nails grifter: โ€œthe biggest waste of money in the EU is the salary we all pay to Mr Farage. Letโ€™s be honest about it, you are a member of the fisheries committee for example and youโ€™re never there. Never. In 2011, no attendance. In 2012, no attendanceโ€

Interesting Fact of the Day: If Robert Jenrick were to catch 50 fare dodgers a day, recouping ยฃ2.90 each time for the taxpayer, it would take him well over 1,000 years to recoup the amount the taxpayer lost when he helped a major Tory donor avoid a ยฃ45m tax bill back in 2020.

I see Honest Bob Jenrick has a new little videos attacking barristers for representing unpopular clients. Once again for those at the back: Lawyers are not their clients. Which is how, when Jenrick repeatedly broke the law in government, he had lawyers to defend him.

To help Honest Bob Jenrick - whose video completely misrepresents the cab rank rule and the duties on barristers not to discriminate against politically unpopular clients - hereโ€™s something from last year thesecretbarrister.com/2024/03/24/is-โ€ฆ

Robert Jenrick This post by Jenrick, who is supposed to be Shadow Justice Secretary, is particularly disgraceful. As a lawyer, I am sure that he has in his time represented the interests of clients who he either found unpleasant or disreputable. Maintaining the rule of law and our freedoms

I decided to become a journalist aged fifteen after reading โ€˜1984โ€™ and being appalled at the thought that governments could rewrite history. Orwell knew the USSR did it. Now China pretends the Tiananmen massacre didnโ€™t happen. It did. I was there, and saw it for myself.

Zia Yusuf seems terribly exercised that Kent County Council has tendered a recruitment contract worth up to ยฃ350 million over four years. And on the surface, that does sound punchy and, dare I say, scandalous - until you look at literally any of the detail. This isnโ€™t Kent

The Russians killed four rescue workers tonight in Kyiv while they were putting out fires under shelling. Russia is not about greatness. Russia is cowardice, greed, lies, poverty and the murder of those who save people.

Now that govt has fired off its two big sound bites, 1. Sending people to jail, which has actually been the law for the last 30 years anyway. 2. Banning bonuses, Thames Water chairman fixed that idea in seconds, says he'll just put up salaries. So none of it, none of it, not
