At the start of the hurricane season, IOM and Pwoteksyon sivil, with EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid 🇪🇺, are strengthening local emergency committees. Simulations on how to respond to hurricanes with equipment help improve community readiness and reduce risks for families facing natural hazards.



IOM ensures safe water access near sites hosting families displaced by gang violence in Haiti. Regular checks at reverse osmosis kiosks help protect communities from cholera and other diseases. This operation is part of EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid 🇪🇺’s commitment to assisting the most vulnerable.





IOM continues canal cleaning and maintenance in support of local authorities Mairie de Delmas. The work helps improve sanitation and waste management services, preventing disease and strengthening preparedness during the hurricane season.


Hundreds of women were trained to mediate conflicts and prevent child enrollment by gangs in Port-au-Prince. Led by Université Quisqueya, with @UNMigration, BINUH and Police communautaire PNH, families are regaining hope in violence reduction. UN Political and Peacebuilding Affairs



IOM Chief in Haiti accompanied a delegation from Ambassade du Japon en Haïti to displacement sites in Port-au-Prince to speak directly with families who fled their homes due to violence. With Pwoteksyon sivil, IOM continues efforts to support them amidst growing needs.




As part of efforts to ensure the safety of its citizens Mairie de Tabarre, with IOM and United Nations Peacebuilding support, installed 50 streetlights in Village Villambetta. Thanks to improved lighting, around 3,500 residents can now move more safely and confidently within their community.



IOM organized a Training of Trainers on Camp Coordination and Management for partners to improve living conditions in displacement sites in Haiti. Participants now are ready to train IDP committee members on protection, feedback mechanisms, and humanitarian principles. CERF - The UN's emergency fund


Listening to residents’ calls for safer neighborhoods, IOM and United Nations Peacebuilding UN Peacebuilding Fund - PBF Haiti supported Commission Municipale de Tabarre to install 38 streetlights in Tabarre 23. This effort benefits 1,500 people and reinforces security and community well-being in close partnership with authorities.


IOM led a security audit training in Haiti to help site managers assess and reduce risks in displacement sites. Thanks to CERF - The UN's emergency fund, participants are now able to safely engage with communities and enhance protection for the most vulnerable.


In Anse-à-Pitres, IOM conducted training sessions on migrant protection and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse for actors involved in migrant assistance. This effort, supported by Development Canada, also aims to reinforce PNH Border Police. Canada in Haiti Canada en Haïti
