It was a pleasure meeting Anas Sarwar We discussed the urgent humanitarian crises in Gaza and Sudan, the critical need for the government to advocate for a ceasefire, and discussed Islamic Relief UK ’s efforts here at home in the UK.


After a busy weekend for IR Scotland volunteers at the Halal Food Festival 2024 in SEC Glasgow, SPMA were happy to lend a helpful hand, helping tidy up the IR Hub in time for the First Minister of Scotland John Swnney’s visit to the hub and IR charity shop.

Yesterday, First Minister John Swinney visited Islamic Relief UK's office and shop in Glasgow. He spoke to staff and learned about their humanitarian responses in Gaza and across the globe as well as their work to tackle poverty in Scotland.

Great to be working with our new UK Programmes partner Dundee United Community Trust 100 essential food packs packed and distributed to vulnerable people across Dundee. We will distributing another 100 food packs in Ramadan.



An additional £400k of Scottish Government funding will be made available to four SIDA members (Islamic Relief UK, Tearfund, @ChristianAid and Oxfam International) to support their response to the humanitarian crisis in Sudan. A powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake has devastated huge areas of Myanmar. People urgently need help to survive. Scottish and UK charities have launched a public appeal for donations, to support their work in affected areas. Scottish Government has contributed £250,000.
