🗣️ David Moyes on Liverpool: “They have shown vulnerability where they have conceded goals, we’ll have to take advantage of that.”

🗣️ David Moyes on James Garner: “He's playing as well as any player. He’s playing as well as any English midfielder in the country. He’s played a few games at left-back. He’s done a really good job. He’s shown his versatility. His form as a midfield player has been really good.”

🗣️ David Moyes: "If you’ve played in derbies it’s hugely important to win it. It will give us a chance to see where we are against the top teams."

Huge relief to see Mykolenko back fit and in the starting line up. The key position has been answered allowing James Garner to move back to into his natural role. Huge test for him today in the midfield.

Hard one to sum up. Shocking start. Everton caught cold. Slowly grew into the game & reassuring to see quality (on the wings) is there. My biggest frustration is losing the momentum after making it 2-1. I’ve also never seen a player booked for taking a free kick too early.

A side note to Darren England’s bizarre decision making today was also his positional sense on the pitch. A number of times during the game I felt he obstructed potential passing opportunities. Just a poor display all round from a referee who was inconsistent throughout the game.

This result won’t define Everton’s season. It maybe another Anfield loss but plenty of encouragement to take. Moyes will have taken a lot from the defeat and I expect him to mix things up in the next two games. Important now we bounce back with wins over Wolves and West Ham.

Basically what you’re saying is, if Everton were to beat Liverpool at Anfield but suffer relegation, then it would be fine, cause that one victory was big enough to define our season and possibly be described as a success?
