Excited to be involved in collaborative Canada/US research supported by SSHRC, U.S. National Science Foundation, American Alpine Club, Alpine Club of Canada | Club alpin du Canada, w/ a talented & amazing leader, Dr. Allison Criscitiello University of Alberta, to Mount Logan over the next two years! Learn more here: loganice.ca

CICL Director Dr. Criscitiello named National Geographic Explorer! NGS is supporting her collaborative, multi-disciplinary project: "Ice Coring the Water Towers of the Columbia, Fraser, Athabasca and Saskatchewan Rivers in a Warming World." National Geographic Society @CanMountainNet UAlbertaScience

We're looking for a motivated postdoc to study contaminant deposition and fate in the Columbia Icefield. Details at bit.ly/3afzGeH @CanMountainNet UAlbertaScience #icecore

Join Dr. Criscitiello live on the Columbia Icefield as she drills for ice cores! UAlbertaScience Nat Geo Education #icecore #ExplorerClassroom Tune in April 13th at 1pm MT here: youtube.com/c/NatGeoEdOrg/…

Last weekend our team collected shallow ice cores and surface snow samples from the Columbia Icefield in arctic-like conditions for an environmental contaminant study. Students Kira Holland and Gerard Otiniano excelled in their first ice coring adventure! UAlbertaScience

Recent coverage of our collaboration with @SVOCora @amilaods Heidi Pickard in C&EN (Chemical & Engineering News) showing persistent short-chain fluorinated alkyl acids observed in Arctic ice cores are linked to CFC replacement chemicals. UAlbertaScience #icecore Read more here: bit.ly/2L6CT52

This week we wanted to take a good look at Canada’s glaciers. First, we meet @IceCICL, who drilled ice cores 300m deep on Mount Logan's icy glacier. Then, researchers from NRC Canada trekked across Canada's glaciers after years of pandemic delays. cbc.ca/listen/live-ra…

Deep within the glacier of Canada’s Mount Logan is a story about the Earth’s climate spanning tens of thousands of years. Discover how scientist and National Geographic Explorer Alison Criscitiello set out to uncover those clues. More on bit.ly/Mount_Logan_1 #PerpetualPlanet

After summiting Canada’s Mount Logan, National Geographic Explorer Alison Criscitiello and her team spent two weeks drilling over 300 m into the ice. Their findings could provide a new history of Earth’s climate over 30,000 years. More on bit.ly/Mount_Logan_2 #PerpetualPlanet
