Big rule change - NFHS 5th foul now bonus. No more 1n1 in bonus situation. Plus fouls reset at end of each quarter.

The IDHSAA posted this in their latest newsletter. New rules for 2023-24. (all sports are included but a few basketball rules shown)

Idaho Athletics - please welcome Chad Williams as the next Executive Director of IDHSAA He was appointed on January 17th to his new role. He has already made one official change - allowing schools to petition down a classification by sport (previously only the entire program).

Sounds like the next item up for discussion will be expansion of the state tournament. Not sure what this will look like yet - MaxPreps/RPI/At Large Bids/Play-in Games - time will tell.

Rule Change - new rule change you should see this summer & next season. No more closely guarded rule (5 sec count) while player is dribbling. NFHS gave States (with shot clock) the option of eliminating this rule. IHSAA & basketball commissioners approved this change yesterday.
