We have a new paper for you: “Structure of tetrameric forms of the serotonin-gated 5-HT3A receptor ion channel”. Here we found that the prototypical pentameric ligand gated ion channel can form stable tetramers and characterized it with cryo-EM/ET and molecular simulations.

Super excited to share our latest work on the native in-cell organization of the mitochondrial respiratory chain 🥳 Using cryo-electron tomography🔬, we show how the respiratory complexes (and other complexes) are organized inside native mitochondria!  biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

I’m delighted to be among this year’s recipients of the ERC Starting Grant! This funding will allow my group to take a deep dive into the replication and assembly mechanisms of positive-strand RNA viruses. I'm particularly excited to expand our in situ #cryoET capabilities!

Cryo-EM is a bit of an imaging miracle. We collect 2D images with stupid amounts of noise. We don’t know what we’re looking at, or from which way. Yet some how we can churn it over and get to see (actually see) how life works on molecular scales in 3D. How?

Proud to be one of the authors of the highest-resolution SARS-CoV-2 #cryoEM entry on EMDB 😄 This came out of a fun collaboration with Bicycle Therapeutics, where we used cryo-EM to validate binding of their biparatopic (EMD-51660) and homotrimeric (EMD-51659) Bicycle molecules🔬

I'm excited to share our lab's newest publication on the structure and pharmacology of GABA transporter 3 Nature Communications. Much to our surprise, GAT3 adopts an inward-open conformation in complex with the (moderately) selective antagonist SNAP-5114. #CryoEM rdcu.be/ei2KY
