The finished #retrofit at Boxford Village Hall for Suffolk CC, where we were involved in the concept design & #suds. The design improved rainwater management, reduced flood risk and improved community aesthetic. Thanks to Carrick Sports & STRI Group also involved in the site.

Bromsgrove School, a leading independent boarding/day #school, undertook a major redevelopment of their sports facilities and boarding houses; part of the project brief was to enhance the entrances and create quality external areas befitting such an establishment. #retrofit

Previously a red oxide works, this derelict #retrofit Elementis site occupied a location in the centre of Deanshanger and was subject to flooding. #illmanyoung was initially engaged to produce framework for the site redevelopment for housing and commercial uses. #landscapedesign

A rain garden is a shallow area of ground or dip which receives run-off from roofs and other hard surfaces. It is planted with plants that can stand waterlogging for up to 48 hours at a time. Storm water fills the depression and then drains. #suds #landscapedesign #raingarden

Witches' hair (Cuscata), also known by the equally spooky name of strangleweed (and the less scary dodder), is a genus of over 200 different #parasiticplants. Cuscata lacks chlorophyll so feeds from other plants to reproduce and can identify other plants based on smell alone!

Lytchett Minster #School occupies a Grade II* #listedbuilding within a designed landscape. Following a fire, the Council wished to #rebuild to provide for the schools’ wider curriculum needs. The concept was bold and simple using quality materials. #landscapedesign

The #herbaceousborder is formal planting style seen in beautiful long borders of country houses. It's often themed by colour and is planted mostly with perennials, with shrubs and topiary for structure. This planting style requires careful planning and can be high maintenance.

We were commissioned to design a series of #ornamentalgardens and seating areas to provide additional ‘pleasure grounds’ for a client and their family. We created a range of spaces from formal gardens as transition from existing #estate, through to intimate #woodland walks.

A new masterplan for the Academy was developed around a #newbuild #school, procured under the Academies framework. A landscape masterplan divided the site into a range of spaces, functioning separately yet complementary to each other. The site had a fully integrated #SuDS scheme

Blue-Green Infrastructure is an urban and land-use planning term. Blue refers to water elements (rivers, canals and permeable pavements) whilst green refers to parks, gardens, and green walls. Balancing this with grey infrastructure creates healthier, happier places to live.

Hard #landscaping, involves the use of hard materials to construct the foundational elements of a garden. Soft landscaping, involves the living elements of a garden. This includes #plants, #trees, #grass, and #flowers, which add colour, texture, and life to the outdoor space.
