Psychosocial disability is not about a diagnosis, it is about the functional impact and barriers which may be faced by someone with a mental health condition. It arises when someone with a MH condition interacts with an environment that presents barriers to quality with others.

Very important note to make.. when it comes to psychosocial disabilities it's about environmental barriers that make an individual unable to have equal opportunities as the other

Disability inclusion will strengthen the workforce. It will enable people to access opportunities on an equal basis with others. Disability inclusion is a critical part of employee support. However for this to be possible, there are a number of factors we need to consider.

Remember that psychosocial disabilities may restrict a person’s ability to be in certain types of environments, to concentrate, have enough stamina to complete tasks, cope with time pressures and multiple tasks, interact with others, understand constructive feedback, manage stress

For employers this means it's necessary to provide a safe space to have these conversations with people with psychosocial disabilities to discuss what types of supports, and reasonable accommodations would be necessary to allow them participate on an equal basis with others.

These might include flexible working hours, working from home, provision of peer support services, employee wellness programs etc.

Employers might also need to have workplace policies that ensure inclusion barriers are eradicated. They should also have trainings with other employees to prepare the work places to be a safe environment for PLWCIPDs. Employees should provide a safe environment for all.

Employers should write this in their recruitment policy, have non- discrimination & disability inclusion trainings, conduct a work place safety audit, budget for furniture, software hardware, flexibility to provide support interms of personal assistants, sign language interpreter

Several accommodations might be necessary for people with psychosocial disabilities. 1. Flexible working hours. 2. Peer supports at work. 3. Provisions to work from home for example for people living with Social anxiety, going to work might make them not be as productive.
