Enjoyed the "lab" notebooks and the presentations for my intro programming class. The 1st ~10 weeks was on basic principles of programming (data structures, control flow, data types, etc.) with a biology theme. Then, they picked and worked on group projects until the end.URI CELS

Celebrated a sort of homecoming last week by returning to Yale CBB to walk for graduation. I was selected to bear the graduate school YaleGSAS banner. Had a great time with folk from my time Yale Poorvu Center, CBB, and others. Was odd (but good) to celebrate with fam and friends

Had a wild week, between presenting at my first math conference (QCAM) ICERM, seeing an old wrestling friend, celebrating an anniversary, and presenting what was one of the most fun talks in my life Yale Young Global Scholars on how science requires philosophy to be done well and do good. Whew!

Had a great time presenting some of my cheeky machine learning work with Jeffrey Townsend at #AIME24 's workshop on AI in Oncology. Paper to come, but TL;DR: use what we know about evolution and biology to contextualize your model inputs. Thanks to the organizers and hosts!

Today's college students are oft malaligned unduly. IMO, they've been thru a lot and are handling it well. Some social challenges due to covid shutdowns, but good overall. But I can't abide what I saw today--at the campus gym, every bench was full, every squat rack empty. SMH 😒

At #AACRpan24 & planning on posters to see tmrrw? 1. Check out undergraduate Rishi Shah's poster from the Jeffrey Townsend lab (aacrjournals.org/cancerres/arti…) 2. If you still have an appetite, check out mine in collab with the same lab's undergraduate Derek Song. aacrjournals.org/cancerres/arti…

I'll be at C030--come say hello as I rep URI CELS **AFTER** you see the incomprable Rishi Shah's (of Jeffrey Townsend lab fame) at C015. You won't regret chatting with him--you'll forget he is an undergraduate by the time he finishes his poster pitch! #AACRpan24 #AACR

Had a great time at #ASTRO24 and so glad I made it back just in time yesterday's #RIResearchBreakfast. Rep-ed URI as an- up-and-coming cancer researcher while celebrating all star researchers, advocates, and legislators engaged in our shared effort against cancer and for wellness
