Gendered school sports kits play a “major role” in high drop-out rates of teen girls in sport, a new study published today in Sport, Education and Society Journal shows❗ In this thread, watch Great Britain Hockey & England Hockey star Tess Howard 🏑 passionately explain the importance of her findings... [1/4]

Tess' research has already reformed the Vitality UK Women’s Hockey Premier League - which her team East Grinstead HC just won this week🥳 She campaigned for change: And now, players are no longer required to wear skirts - they have the choice to wear shorts... 👏 👏 [2/4]

... The next step for Tess is to take her findings worldwide🌎 Through Inclusive Sportswear CIC, she aims to tackle gendered kit issues across all sport - as she shows 70% of interviewees report incidents of girls dropping sport at school due to clothing & body image concerns. [3/4]

Tess research was originally carried out as part of her dissertation whilst at Geography at Durham Durham University 📝 It's out now, fully #OpenAccess for everyone to read here 👇 tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10… #inclusivekit #sportskit #EastGrinstead #womenssport [4/4]
